Quick Summary
Teddy Andersen has always been the carefree, go-with-the-flow type, but suddenly, she’s feeling stuck. With her best friend getting engaged and her future uncertain, she wonders if life in her beloved small town is enough for her anymore. Meanwhile, Gus Ryder has no time for existential crises—he’s juggling the demands of running an 8,000-acre ranch and taking care of his six-year-old daughter for the summer. Overwhelmed and out of options, Gus reluctantly accepts help from the last person he’d ever want to work with—Teddy, his little sister’s best friend, and the woman who drives him absolutely crazy.
As forced proximity turns into reluctant teamwork, tensions simmer and sparks fly, leading to a convincing enemies-to-lovers transformation that neither of them saw coming. But with uncertainties about the future looming, will they take the risk of turning temporary passion into something real?
What I Loved
A Well-Executed Enemies-to-Lovers Arc: The transition from hostility to romance between Teddy and Gus felt natural and believable, avoiding the usual pitfalls of forced tension. Their dynamic was full of banter, frustration, and undeniable chemistry that made their eventual love story so satisfying.
Riley Stole the Show: Gus’s six-year-old daughter brought humor and heart to the story, adding levity to the tension between the leads. She softened Gus’s gruff edges and made Teddy’s presence in their lives feel even more meaningful.
Teddy’s Struggles Felt So Real: Her feelings of being "behind" in life, missing milestones, and watching others move forward were incredibly relatable. Lyla Sage continues to write mental and emotional struggles with care, making her characters feel deeply human.
Fantastic Audiobook Narration: This was the first book in the series I listened to instead of reading, and the dual narration was excellent. The voices truly brought Teddy and Gus to life, making it an immersive and enjoyable listen.
A Series That Just Keeps Getting Better: I already love the Rebel Blue Ranch series, and Lost and Lassoed just solidified how much I adore these characters and this world.
What Didn’t Quite Work for Me
A Slower Start: The story took a little time to find its rhythm, but once the tension started building between Teddy and Gus, it picked up beautifully.
Who Should Read (or Listen to) This?
If you love convincing enemies-to-lovers, small-town ranch settings, and relatable, emotionally layered characters, Lost and Lassoed is for you. Perfect for audiobook lovers, fans of gruff-but-loving cowboy heroes, and anyone who enjoys romance with heart.
Final Thoughts
This book delivered everything I love about the Rebel Blue Ranch series—swoon-worthy romance, emotional depth, and a setting that feels like home. Gus and Teddy’s push-and-pull dynamic was executed perfectly, and Riley’s presence added warmth and charm. With fantastic narration and a compelling romance, Lost and Lassoed is another strong addition to a series I can’t get enough of.
