Quick Summary
Abbie Keller has spent four years shaping herself into the perfect girlfriend for her hotshot lawyer boyfriend, Richard—changing her wardrobe, her interests, and even pretending to like golf. Then, on Halloween night, he dumps her out of the blue, saying she’s not “serious” enough for his life and career. Brutal. But Abbie’s not about to wallow for long.
With some encouragement (okay, maybe some wine-fueled plotting) from her best friends, she hatches a revenge plan: match with Damien Martinez, Richard’s boss and co-founder of the firm, charm him, and show up to Richard’s big Christmas party on Damien’s arm. Petty? Maybe. Satisfying? Absolutely. But as things heat up between Abbie and Damien, what starts as a revenge-fueled scheme turns into something much more real—and much harder to walk away from.
What I Loved
Damien is the dream age-gap romance hero. He’s confident, mature, and knows exactly what he wants. He’s not just a rebound for Abbie—he genuinely sees her for who she is, supports her, and builds her back up after years of being torn down. And let’s be real, he’s also just incredibly hot.
Abbie’s transformation. Watching her reclaim her confidence and realize she doesn’t need to fit into someone else’s mold was so satisfying. She goes from doubting herself to completely owning her power, and it’s the best kind of glow-up.
The holiday vibes are there, but not over the top. Christmas plays a key role in the story (especially the infamous holiday party), but the book isn’t drowning in tinsel and mistletoe. It’s the perfect pick if you want a festive read without feeling like you’re trapped in a Hallmark movie.
What Didn’t Quite Work for Me
The deception stress. Since Abbie’s whole plan starts with revenge, I was on edge waiting for the moment Damien found out the truth. It made me a little anxious, but thankfully, the fallout wasn’t drawn out unnecessarily.
Who Should Read This?
If you love age-gap romance with a swoon-worthy, emotionally mature MMC, Damien’s your guy.
If you’re in the mood for a spicy holiday read with some serious self-love and empowerment vibes.
If you want a book where revenge takes a backseat to real emotional growth and healing.
Final Thoughts
This book surprised me in the best way. I went in expecting a fun, spicy revenge story, but what I got was a romance that was just as much about Abbie finding herself as it was about falling for Damien. The chemistry is off the charts, the pacing keeps things moving, and the ending ties everything together in the most satisfying way. Whether you’re deep in the holiday season or just need a little festive spice in your life, this is a great one to pick up.
